Free up your brush and experiment with colour and wax. Encaustic painting is applying molten, coloured wax to various surfaces with brushes, painting irons and other electrical tools. This workshop will cover the basics of encaustic painting and will include safety procedures, slides, preparation of supports and grounds and demonstrations. Participants will learn basic techniques which include: tools and techniques for fusing, layering and scraping/scribing, building up of texture, line and edge, collage, image transfer, combining oil and encaustic, dipping, etc. This workshop is for beginners and advanced alike, and will be led by Professor Petra Zantingh at Redeemer University College, 777 Garner Road East, Ancaster.
