 Dave Witt (in red), an International Teams’ ministry worker in Hamilton, leads the pack of cyclists in the Oct. 13 Hamilton area ‘Ride For Refugees’. The event attracted a total of 500 riders for the Hamilton, Waterloo and Brantford rides, raising more than $200,000 for refugee ministry locally and globally. Hamilton’s Micah House and True City are the major local beneficiaries.  Pastors Ace and Joy Clarke, with corporate sponsor representative Vince Isber, RBC Royal Bank regional vice-president for Greater Hamilton, and Fred Bennink (right), chair of the board of The Hamilton Dream Center, at the annual dinner and auction in support of the Dream Center’s work to assist the poor and working poor in the core area of Hamilton. The event was held on Sept. 20 at LIUNA Station.  A number of ‘pioneers’ from the 1982 inaugural year of Redeemer University College gather during the Sept. 29 service of praise and celebration marking Redeemer’s 25th anniversary.  Former Hamilton Tiger-Cats’ quarterback Danny McManus was the guest of honour at a banquet in support of the work of FTC Canada to feed hungry children around the world. He is joined by Ken Dick, president of FTC Canada, at the Sept. 18 event at Marquis Gardens, Ancaster.  Former Toronto Blue Jays’ shortstop Tony Fernandez (centre) was the special guest at the seventh annual Spirit and Sport Christian Celebrity Dinner and Auction, Sept. 27 at Carmen’s Banquet Centre. The master of ceremonies was the ‘Voice of the Toronto Raptors’ Herbie Kuhn (left), and the event was hosted by the Carpenteros and Friends, represented by Ken VanderLaan, with all proceeds to support micro-credit and community development in Latin America. |
